Sermon 05 July 2009
"Corporate Prayer"
Sunday Morning
Richard Hildreth
This Sunday Pastor Hildreth spoke about the importance of unity in prayer.
The text was from Acts 1:14
Some key points from the sermon
- Corporate prayer is our air offensive. It severely weakens our enemy.
- God's people must come together in unity and prayer.
- If we are not unified, we are limited.
- One requirement for corporate prayer is Dependency on God. God's house must be a house of prayer. We must not substitute preaching, nor programs, nor things for prayer.
- Another requirement is brokenness. God brings down the prideful. If you are disillusioned and perplexed God has you where he can work. We need God.
- Another requirement is Unity. we must overcome barriers to each other in the body of Christ. We overcome those barriers with prayer. We must have unity of purpose in Jesus Christ. We can overcome the barriers of religion.
- Just because we are in the same physical place does not mean we are united. We must have the right motives.
- One result of corporate prayer is urgency. It gets us away from being lukewarm. Urgency and passion are necessary when we are hungry for God.
- Another result is unction. We get an annointing, a power, a passion. We get the Fruit of the Spirit.
- We must determine for ourselves "Do I take God for granted?"
